HotTea Mamma Newborn Wonder Tea

Newborn Wonder is the perfect tea for any tired tea-lover or new mum.  A blend of white peony tea and whole rosebuds.  White tea is high in both caffeine and theanine. Whilst the caffeine level in a cup of Newborn Wonder is higher than a normal builders brew, the theanine gives it a slow release effect and a long, gentle boost.

As well as being higher in caffeine than black tea, White Peony white tea has also been shown to be high in anti-oxidants.

Rosebuds have been used for millennia to ease period cramps, and we've included them to bring a delicious aroma but also comfort, when you need it most.

We only use whole leaf, natural ingredients to ensure that you get the full flavour and goodness of the tea leaves and flowers.  Our whole leaf, plastic free, biodegradable tea bags are plant based and release fewer tannins into a brew, ensuring it is isn’t bitter and hard to drink.

Gluten free and Vegan friendly

Contains 15 whole leaf, plastic free, biodegradable tea pyramids.
They can be used to make 30 cups of tea or more.

INGREDIENTS

White Peony White Tea - higher in caffeine than a normal cup of black tea, it has c. 90mg per cup (a standard 'builder's tea has c. 20 - 50mg per cup).  But it's also very high in theanine, which is a relaxant and means that you get a slow release of caffeine - longer and more gentle than a coffee which quickly gives you c. 120mg of caffeine in one hit.  So you won't have any heart palpitations or shaky hands - just a long, slow boost when you need it.
Rose Buds - have been used in the Middle East for thousands of years to support menstrual cramping and ease stress.  They're great post labour, or throughout the month if you have any PMS.

TASTING NOTES

Delicately floral – mellow white tea and fragrant rose

White Peony has a soft, delicate flavour with notes of melon and cucumber.

Rose buds are sweet and floral.

In combination, the tea is uplifting, delicate and balanced.

We don’t recommend adding milk or sugar, but follow your cravings and personal taste!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much caffeine is in Newborn Wonder Tea?

The white tea that we use as the base of this blend, means it has c. 90mg per cup.  This is lower than a filter coffee which has c. 140mg per cup.  But it is higher than a cup of builder's tea (75mg).  It is safe to have when pregnant or breastfeeding, as NHS guidelines are that you should limit caffeine to 200mg per day.  Just be aware that you shouldn't have more than 2 cups of this tea a day.  And also just be aware that chocolate and soft drinks also have some caffeine in them.  There's a great caffeine calculator to help you monitor caffeine intake, made by Tommy's: https://www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/nutrition-pregnancy/check-your-caffeine-intake-pregnancy

What is Theanine?
The white tea in this blend is very high in a compound called theanine.  This is a relaxing chemical, which gives the tea a slow release effect.
Fennel and Fenugreek in particular have been used by breastfeeding women for hundreds of years to increase milk supply. The seeds contain phytoestogens which mimic your female hormone, oestrogen.

Nettle and anise have also been linked to helping breast milk,  but the research is more limited here.
How can rosebuds help post-birth?
Rosebuds have been used for millenia in the Middle East to ease menstrual cramps and pains.  We believe it can therefore help release cramps that you may suffer from post-natally, either after a c-section or natural birth.
